Basics of Consent and Negotiation

Consent is mandatory. Unfortunately, consent is also a murky concept that can be influenced by power imbalances, knowledge disparities, discussion locations, and even whether you've had enough sleep last night.
 
Join us as we cover all of the basics of consent, giving you some of the tools you need to really understand some of the complexities of consent. We'll cover different consent models, why consent is important, what "informed consent" means, must-have personal information from partners before playing, and what things can affect someone's ability to fully consent.
 
You'll also get some tips on how to make negotiations feel a bit more like flirting instead of a job interview.
 
For those of you who regularly play with new people, we'll also talk about how to provide informed consent and emergency information to a partner while simultaneously maintaining your own privacy (regarding health and mental conditions).
 
While the concept of consent is always growing and changing, start your journey today by getting a basic handle on how complicated this initially "simple" idea can be.

About the Educator 

Mistress Kay has a fondness for all things sexual. With a house that's quickly running out of room for all of her reading and vibrating pleasures, she spends her free time reading, writing, and learning about the sexual and BDSM universe with her partners.

That knowledge translates into a dayjob teaching sex and BDSM, photography specializing in boudoir and kink, and her educational website, Kinky World, which has been providing free online BDSM education for over 16 years.
