Description

Lavender Library: Books That Changed Your Life!

Problem: There weren't enough local queer-centered book clubs. Solution: We started one! Looking for a welcoming book club that shifts the focus of the conversation to living life as a queer person? We're on the same page and we've got you covered. Welcome to the Autonomy Project's Lavender Book Club.

To start the year, Lavender Library book club’s January Theme will be “Books That Changed Your Life!”, in which attendees are encouraged to bring literature that changed their lives, were impactful, or are alltime favorites. We will share passages and titles that are meaningful to us, and hopefully leave with a full 'library card' of recommendations!

You don’t need to finish (or even start) a book to participate — we’ll read aloud together, make space for reflection, and offer gentle creative prompts for those who want to write or share. A warm, inclusive space for LGBTQIA+ folks, allies, and radical readers to gather in community, spark meaningful conversations, and celebrate queer voices in literature.

The Deets:
We will be providing literature written by a queer author, providing a safe space to discuss the queer experience. For queer literature lovers who want a space to discuss literature amongst like-minded people, you don't have to be the only queer person in the room, or only reading hetero-normative literature.

Introducing: The Super Book Lovers Club!

You all have been absolutely loving the Lavender Library! We've introduced a quick and easy way to support the Library continuing as a low cost community event through the Super Book Lovers Ticket ($15-$20) to sponsor our beloved event, plus, get a free raffle ticket for next months book! Purely optional for our book nerds who want these to help keep these happening every month.

We LOVE volunteers! Join our team of community volunteers, and you will find new friends, a support system, and a tight-knit center of empowerment.

By volunteering with us, you can make a meaningful impact on people's lives. Still, you will also get perks such as discounted or free access to our events and classes and, most importantly, collaborative input into what we do here. Your ideas are important to us, and as a volunteer, we want you to feel like you're part of our community: one that celebrates who you are and supports your journey.
