Thank You Volunteers!
Where would the Autonomy Project be without our volunteers? You’re the heart, hands, and spirit behind everything we do — and we couldn’t do it without you.
The Holly-Gay Haven is a cozy space for our incredible volunteers to take a breath, unwind, and simply be together. No organizing or to-do lists this time — just connection, comfort, and care in community (plus maybe a favorite dish to share).
The Command Team invites you to join us for gentle conversation, laughter, and shared moments of peace. We want to spend time with you — not asking for help, but offering appreciation. This gathering is about nurturing ourselves and each other so we can keep doing the work that matters most.
This event will be a potluck-style gathering, and we’d love your participation in sharing your favorite comfort food or holiday fare. Traditional holiday main dishes (with a vegetarian option) and beverages will be provided by the Autonomy Project. Your contributions — big or small — will help make our table feel even more like the cozy, welcoming home we’ve built together as chosen family.
We’ll also be hosting a Rainbow Elephant Gift Exchange, following the classic White Elephant rules — with a twist! This is a $0-spent exchange — absolutely nothing new or intentionally bought. Wrap up something pre-loved (or not-so-loved), a re-gift, something that’s been collecting dust (give it a quick wipe first), or a home-crafted creation.
Let’s give with intention, celebrate creativity, and proudly say “F YOU” to capitalism while spreading sustainable holiday joy.
Please RSVP by Monday, November 17th and respond to the following questions:
- Are there any accommodations that will make this event accessible for you?
- Do you have any food allergies, requirements, or preferences?
- If you are bringing something to the potluck, what will it be? (Helps us know if we should supplement)

VOLUNTEERS
Our entire organization is volunteer run. Join our team of community volunteers, and you will find new friends, a support system, and a tight-knit center of empowerment.
By volunteering with us, you can make a meaningful impact on people's lives. Still, you will also get perks such as discounted or free access to our events and classes and, most importantly, collaborative input into what we do here. Your ideas are important to us, and as a volunteer, we want you to feel like you're part of our community: one that celebrates who you are and supports your journey.
HIGH POTENTIAL, NO PRESSURES
Our community thrives in a space where countless delightful interactions could happen, but none are obligated to occur. Think of it as "high possibility, low expectations." Outside of our general respect requirements, you are not obligated to interact with anyone in any particular way. This makes our space ideal for new faces and seasoned community members alike.
A FOUNDATION OF TRUST
Our gatherings are magical because of trust. We fiercely protect each member's privacy, encourage honest risk communication, and diligently care for our shared environments. It's our collective respect and integrity that fortify this safe space.
CLEAR AND PRESENT CONSENT
Upholding consent goes beyond preventing harm; it's about affirming everyone's freedom to fully and joyfully agree to their interactions. It's through this affirmation that our spaces thrive with genuine, unreserved participation.
INCLUSION AND DIVERSITY
We're committed to inclusivity. Our community is a tapestry of individuals from diverse racial, ethnic, and social backgrounds, including all gender identities and expressions. We encourage everyone to engage with empathy and curiosity, always asking rather than assuming someone's identity or preferences. Our space is and always will be wheelchair accessible, with multiple spaces for varying sensory needs.
